Get ready to “Twist & Shout” as Beatlemania On Tour brings its internationally acclaimed production to the Proserpine Entertainment Centre on Sunday 26th April 2026 at 7.30pm, for one night only. Since its launch in 2009, the Australian-based show has built a formidable global reputation, selling out performances across North America, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand. After a decade away from Australia’s east coast, the production is now returning with a high-energy tribute to the music that defined a generation. Audiences can expect a two-hour audio-visual spectacular featuring more than 40 of the greatest hits by The Beatles, performed live in their original keys with meticulous attention to detail. Replica costumes, period instruments and theatrical lighting combine to recreate the look and sound of the 1960s, capturing the spirit of the world’s most influential band. The setlist reads like a greatest-hits time capsule, including classics such as Hey Jude, All You Need Is Love, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, Twist & Shout, Yesterday, Come Together, Get Back, Help!, Eleanor Rigby and Here Comes the Sun, among many others. Behind the production is a cast of seasoned musicians, including Zachary Coombs, who performs the role of John Lennon. Coombs’ connection to the music runs deeper than most. Named after Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr, he grew up in a musical household influenced by jazz, rock and 90s pop. He first picked up the guitar as a teenager before discovering The Beatles at 15 after receiving their 1 compilation album. “I fell in love with every single song,” Coombs recalled, describing the moment as a turning point that led him to explore the band’s entire catalogue. After years touring internationally as a solo cruise ship performer, Coombs joined Beatlemania in 2014, later stepping into the role of John Lennon. He has also performed as Paul McCartney and George Harrison in earlier productions, drawing on what he describes as “the magic within the music itself.” He says the key to portraying Lennon lies in understanding the balance of musicianship and attitude. “If the musicians are having fun on stage, it becomes infectious,” Coombes said. The show also features fellow performers portraying Ringo Starr and the rest of the iconic line-up, with attention to every musical and visual detail. For Coombs and the cast, the appeal of Beatles music lies in its universality, with songs built on themes of love, peace and connection that continue to resonate across generations. “This is more than a concert,” organisers say. “It’s a celebration of music history.” Tickets are available now. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is in full swing, and with only a couple of weeks left until Christmas, gift wrapping often becomes a last-minute headache. But thanks to the volunteers from Mackay’s SCOPE Club, you can turn that chore into a moment of relaxation – all while supporting local charities.
From now until Christmas Eve, the SCOPE team will be stationed at Home Co between Thrifties and Spotlight, offering their expert gift-wrapping services daily from 9am to 4pm. For just a gold coin donation per gift (please consider donating more for larger items), they’ll transform your presents into beautifully wrapped treasures, with proceeds going to local causes like Chances House (Australian Street Aid Project), Orange Sky, and Mackay Animal Rescue Society (MARS).
What’s even better? Your gifts don’t need to be purchased at Home Co. Bring in your items from anywhere, drop them off in the morning, and return later to collect your perfectly wrapped presents. With a wide selection of colours available, the volunteers can even try to match a theme if you have one in mind. Try to separate gifts for specific people into separate bags, so once they are wrapped, you know who to label them for.
While you wait, why not take a well-earned break? Nearby K&Co Café offers the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat, giving you a few minutes off your feet during the holiday rush.
Support the community, tick gift wrapping off your to-do list, and enjoy a little holiday cheer – it’s a win-win for everyone!

Lace up your dancing shoes and find a crown because SOS will transform the Airlie Beach Hotel into Dancing Queen central across three free shows this December!
One of the nations most treasured and celebrated ABBA Tribute Shows, SOS, will grace the stage of the Airlie Beach Hotel once again to perform iconic tunes like Chiquitita, I Have a Dream, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! and of course, Dancing Queen.
In September of this year, SOS ignited the Airlie Beach Hotel with their energetic and captivating performance with Band Manager, Sam Bennett adding how much the band adores the seaside township.
“We always love our trip to Airlie Beach itself, it’s a well-deserved break in the sunshine from the very unpredictable Melbourne weather,” shared Sam.
“Everyone is always on holiday time there and it’s very easy to perform to a crowd that is there either on holiday or living that holiday lifestyle.”
A band renowned for their stage presence and contagious vibes, SOS have been both performers and ABBA addicts for many years, with audiences across the country falling in love with the band’s ability to recreate the sound, music and look of the Swedish pop sensation.
Armed with both fabulous outfits, outstanding vocal talents, iconic ABBA dance moves and Swedish accents to match, SOS perfectly perform a show that is both exciting to witness and even more exciting to be part of.
“I think doing an ABBA tribute show is the same thing as theatre, you’re performing as a character,” added Sam.
“We perform as Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny and Björn, we are a character, we have a story and a history - we all have our own connection to these songs, both in reality as performers, but also in characters.”
SOS will transport audiences back in time with the 70s sounds of disco beats to create an energetic dance party like no other, just in time to match the festivities and lively atmosphere of the silly season!
In an exciting addition, the Airlie Beach Hotel’s dazzling dance floor will be a hive of activity with the community invited to bust a move and have a groove on Friday 20 December as well as Saturday 21 December and Sunday 22 December from 2pm to 5:30pm!
“It’s always a fun and high energy afternoon, so if anyone is even remotely near Airlie Beach Hotel, please come down!”

With such a successful event, organisers are already gearing up for next year, promising an even grander celebration that will build on this year’s festive spirit...
The annual Whitsunday Carols on the Beach event was a resounding success, with attendees enjoying an evening of festive fun under clear skies.
Despite initial rain concerns, the event was spared.
"Everyone was obviously very happy that it didn't rain," said Caitlin McLuskey (Mrs Claus) reflecting on the good fortune of weather.
This year's carols featured an exciting mix of entertainment, including roving angels on stilts and hula-hooping elves, which received lots of positive feedback from visitors.
"Quite a few people commented that they really enjoyed the additional entertainment aspects," noted Caitlin.
One of the biggest highlights was the performance by local kindergarten children, who performed on stage for the first time in several years.
"For me, my personal highlight was seeing the little kindy kids get on stage.
“They were just so cute," Caitlin shared.
With food stalls offering everything from waffles to pizza, and more than 1,000 attendees filling the lawn, the event was a true community gathering.
"It was packed, maybe 1,000 to 2,000 people. The lawn was full," said Caitlin.
Plans are already underway for next year's event, promising even more festive cheer.
"We're looking forward to seeing everyone again next year and making it even bigger and better," Caitlin added.
