The Emergency Services Field Day delivered a fun and informative Saturday morning on the Coral Sea Marina green, giving families from across the region a chance to meet the people who help keep their community safe.
Organised by Whitsunday Police Station, the event brought together police, ambulance and fire crews, Volunteer Marine Rescue, Whitsunday Water Police and Council’s disaster management team for a morning of demonstrations and activities.

The morning began with a warm welcome from Coral Sea Marina CEO Kate Preston and Councillor Jan Clifford OAM, before crews gave families a look at their skills in action.
Army cadets demonstrated a casualty evacuation, the SES showed how to sandbag a property, and firefighters demonstrated a kitchen fire trailer and the jaws of life, while Marine Rescue Queensland crews introduced visitors to a life raft.

Sliced in between was some friendly service on service competition, such as Tug-O-War which saw the recruits bested by the firies, a donut eating competition dominated by the army cadets and a push-up challenge.

The Whitsunday Lions Club was also in attendance providing a suspenseful raffle to end the day, while the Whitsunday Suicide Prevention Network cooked up the sausages to keep the energy up all day.
