Anything Environmental has proudly opened the doors to its new Containers for Change depot along the Bruce Highway in Proserpine, giving locals more reason to recycle while putting a little extra cash in their pockets.
The investment of more than $2 million has relocated Proserpine’s existing service to a new facility along the Bruce Highway, with improved safety and easier access for locals returning their bottles and cans.
Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell MP and Member for Whitsunday Amanda Camm MP joined the community to celebrate the depot’s first birthday and the opening of its new facility.

“This is really about being better located to support our community,” Member for Whitsunday Amanda Camm said.
“It was all about safety, accessibility, and really being able to showcase, I think, what a great investment in Proserpine can deliver for our community.”
“I know lots of our community groups benefit from bringing in their containers and they utilise that money to support their own organisations and charities.”
Alongside encouraging recycling, Containers for Change has helped Aussies pocket nearly $1.2 billion through its 10-cent refunds since launching back in 2018.

Proserpine locals seem to be already reaping the rewards, having already deposited more than 12 million bottles and cans, putting over $1.2 million back into the community.
“It’s been a lot of hard work, but when you look around and see this beautiful building, we’re tremendously proud of all the work our team has done to get it to where it is now,” said Jo Higgins, Director of Proserpine’s Containers for Change depot.
“Every ten cents counts and I know a lot of the community depend on us having this service here for them.”
