City Ladies Excel At District Championship Singles

Mary Burston and Shirley Haynes - B Grade Singles  District Final

Mackay City Ladies have risen to the challenges of District Competitions recently. Most notable was the successful efforts on the green by Emma Pash who in representing the club in the Open Singles went on to claim the District Title. She then played superbly to defeat Emerald’s representative Bec Pullen to claim the Zone Title and now heads to the State Carnival which is to be held at the Goosies in November.

Another City Lady bowler Mary Burston reached the final of the B Grade Singles only to go down in a narrow margin against her Souths opponent.

Novice player, Sue McCarthy continued ‘City’s’ success with a win against Natasha George from Seaforth Bowls Club in her first ever district event.

Not only on the green but also in the club house there have been happy occasions as long time Mackay City Bowler and current patron Barb White celebrated her 90th birthday milestone among family, friends and club members.
