Cutters To Combine With Local State High School

Local Rugby League side The QCCS Mackay Cutters will partner with Mackay State High School in 2023 to link the high school’s Rugby League Academy with the Mackay Cutters Pathways Program and centralised-coaching system.

The parties believe the formal partnership will see “mutual benefit for both the Mackay Cutters and Mackay SHS”.

It will involve the sharing of facilities and resources, making Mackay SHS a training base for the Cutter’s Junior Representative programs.

“This will increase the opportunities for players and staff in the Mackay region to pursue their rugby league goals,” a Mackay Cutters spokesperson said.

“The partnership is aimed at developing local talent through a streamlined junior pathways program into the Mackay Cutters.”

The new partnership hopes that the hub established at Mackay State High School will be the first of three, with satellite programs also planned for two other areas as the Cutters look to broaden their pathways footprint.
