The atmosphere was buzzing as students hungry for revenge geared up for a grudge match 12 months in the making.
As Mackay North State High School HPE teacher Riley Martyn revealed, he could not remember the last time a Year 12 team had beaten the staff in their annual netball match.

Despite a crowd favouring the students, the teachers held their nerve, finishing one point ahead when the school bell ended play.
Grins and sideline cheers accompanied the rivalry, with hundreds of students and staff gathering for the afternoon of competition and camaraderie.

Two days later, the Year 12s had another chance to turn the tables in a volleyball showdown.
Fierce spikes and desperate saves kept both sides busy, but the teachers clinched another win to make it two from two.

The graduating cohort will now look to the Class of 2027 to settle the score and finally send the teachers packing without bragging rights.
