Editor's Note

Hi Everyone,

I’m back and my cup is full!

To anyone feeling rundown or burnt out, I highly recommend a month in Europe. If Europe’s not your thing, I highly recommend carving out some time to relax and enjoy life without the commitments, responsibilities and daily routine of normal life.

For it is when you step away from the norm, stare at new horizons and spend some time without your alarm waking you up at 6am each morning that you really open your mind to what life is all about.

Ever since I became an avid traveller back in my twenties, I have always loved the power of exploring the world – the perspective it gives, the way it dispels the noise of normal life, and how your mind expands when you see and experience different cultures. To me, it is pure magic!

This year, it was an absolute treat to watch my nine-year-old son experience this delight for the first time. Until now, he has been a little too young to fully process the enormity of long-haul travel, or engage with and absorb the destinations we’ve visited.

But this year, I could see his mind was blown!

Some may disagree with pulling your child out of school for a month, but to me, the education that comes from travel and experiencing different cultures is priceless.

From swimming in an Italian lake, to scaling the slanted roofs of a cathedral, reaching speeds of 250 kilometres an hour on a train, and discovering the delight of tapas in the busy streets of Barcelona – he loved every second of it.

After a month away, it is always fabulous to return to this incredible region and this wonderful local newspaper.

As ever, I am in awe of the passionate team I am lucky enough to have around me, and thankful for every day we get to serve this beautiful community.
