Junior Bowlers Hit Stride

The successful BPL-winning team of Andrew Butler, Andy McDougall, and skipper Harry Quod.

Another week at our little bowls club in Paradise, which began on Monday afternoon with the continuing training of the four students from Christian College for their participation in the Queensland School Competition in Brisbane on the 19th and 20th of August.

Elliana Langshore has come very far from where she started, as have Pazel Davis, Ollie Webb and Miranda Jackson each session.

Tuesday afternoon social bowls saw 20 bowlers, many visitors from Victoria, with Carol Crosbie's team the big winners of the day.

The B pairs semifinals saw last year's winners Maureen Barnard and Di Jackson were too good for Alma Rose Mawson and Liz McManus, progressing to the final again.

Wednesday afternoon social bowls run by Mervyn Stewart saw Arthur McManus unstoppable with Mandy O'Brien at lead, and Sue Blakely from Victoria as the runaway winners.

Thursday afternoon continued with the training of the Christian College students, and Friday night watched 6 teams playing for the BPL to see which two teams progressed. The South Suburban team led by champion bowler Cooper Whitestyles went through as well as Harry Quod's team of Andy McDougall and Andrew Butler. We wish both winning teams good luck in the zone finals.

Sunday afternoon's social bowls again witnessed high-standard bowling, with Andy McDougall continuing his great form with lead Alma Rose Mawson and second Pip Heddles in a great team performance.
