Locals are invited to pick up a paddle and try something new when All Day Pickleball Airlie Beach hosts an open day at Club Whitsunday’s new courts.
Whether you have been curious about pickleball or are hearing the name for the first time, the morning offers a welcoming introduction to a game bringing people together through sport.
Combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, pickleball is played with paddles and a lightweight plastic ball on a smaller court. Players can enjoy singles or doubles, making it an option for friends and families keen to get moving together.
The rules are straightforward to learn, and you do not need years of sporting experience to join in. Visitors will have the chance to learn the basics, discover how the game works and have a go themselves.
For those who enjoy a little friendly competition, there is plenty of opportunity to test your skills. For others, it is simply a chance to spend a morning outdoors, meet new people and enjoy being active.
The new courts give the community another place to catch up with friends and make connections, with organisers encouraging people of all ages and abilities to come along.
Bring a friend, bring your curiosity and see whether pickleball could become your next favourite pastime.
