By the office of Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry MP
Families, pensioners and small businesses across Capricornia are doing it tough. Every week I hear from locals who are working hard, doing the right thing and still finding it harder to get ahead. Power bills, insurance, groceries, rent, fuel and mortgages have all climbed, and too many regional Australians feel they are paying more while getting less in return.
That is why the LNP’s plan is focused on restoring living standards, rewarding hard work and putting Australians first. We believe government should respect taxpayers’ money, rein in wasteful spending and take real pressure off household budgets. Our plan includes fairer tax settings so Australians are not punished simply because inflation has pushed them into higher brackets, support for small businesses to invest and grow, and practical action to get more homes built so young people and families have a fair shot at home ownership.
For regional communities like ours, fuel and energy security matter. Capricornia relies on affordable, reliable power and transport to keep farms, mines, ports, small businesses and households moving. The LNP understands that cheaper energy is not just an economic issue; it is a household issue, a jobs issue and a regional issue.
We also know that strong borders, responsible migration and investment in national infrastructure are essential to protecting Australia’s way of life. Regional Australians do not want empty promises or political spin. They want practical policies that make life easier, make communities stronger and give the next generation confidence in the future.
The LNP has a plan to restore aspiration, back hard work and deliver a fair go for Capricornia. That is what I will continue fighting for every day.
