During Queensland Mental Health Week, recognised between 3rd -11th October, Mackay Hospital and Health Service (HHS) took the opportunity to recognise the staff who support the mental health and wellbeing of people across the region.
The health service acknowledged the diverse team of professionals working across its services, including mental health clinicians, nurses, allied health staff, peer workers and support teams.
A representative from Mackay Hospital and Health Service said staff brought compassion, expertise and commitment to their roles, supporting people and families through some of life’s most challenging moments.

“Their hard work helps individuals and families feel heard, supported and connected, while strengthening the wellbeing of our wider community.”
The representative said even simple interactions, such as a conversation, a listening ear or a moment of connection, could make a meaningful difference to someone experiencing mental health challenges.
The health service also recognised that mental health care involved a broad range of staff and roles, with contributions made across different workplaces and services.

The acknowledgement served as a thank you to all Mackay HHS staff members who play a part in providing mental health care and supporting the wellbeing of the local community.
