Sea Eagles Indigenous Round A Success

Whitsunday Sea Eagles headed to Harrup Park this week in to play in the second Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round against the Mackay City Hawks and combined Swarks. The Sea Eagles and Hawks battled it out all day in what has become tradition for Indigenous Round.

Sea Eagles Senior Women worked hard to see their first win for the year against one of the top teams. Sea Eagles took the field with 16 players against the Hawks eager to get back to playing AFL with the assistance from a few alternate Club players. After a great first quarter with Sea Eagles kicking the first two goals the game tightened up with only a single point separating the teams at half time. A strong performance in the third saw Sea Eagles up by nine points at the break leading into a tight and thrilling final quarter resulting in a two point win to the Sea Eagles 40 – 38. Cleo Dickie had a superb game with support from Mia Trinder who dominated on the wing. Deakoda Costello had success up forward kicking 3 goals whilst Georgie Carland held the backline together and Danielle Kay worked hard tackling all game. Sea Eagles out ran, out tackled and out pressured the Hawks who found out too late the Sea Eagles had come to play.

Senior Men were out played in a twilight game losing 49 – 80 against Mackay City Hawks.

Under 17s Won comfortably 61 – 1 against the Mackay City/Eastern Swarks side in a display of dominance.

Under 14s went right to the end in a nail biter against the Swarks eventually seeing the game end behind 27 – 34.

Under 12s finished a tough match with a loss 20 – 51 against the Swarks showing great improvement from last time they met.
