Whitsunday Anglican School’s Senior Boys and Girls volleyball teams competed in the Mackay Interschool Volleyball Grand Finals for the second consecutive year, with both teams earning their place in the deciders.
The Girls faced a challenging opening set before responding to level the contest in the second. A closely fought third set saw both teams battle for every point, with Whitsunday ultimately falling short of the title.
The Boys also trailed through much of the opening set before finding their rhythm and building momentum to secure a memorable Grand Final victory.
The school said the results reflected the “dedication, resilience and talent” of its students, with the teams representing Whitsunday Anglican School with pride.

The school also acknowledged the support of Mr Wheaton, Dr Sunner, Mrs Bennington and Mr Nixon, as well as members of the wider Whitsunday school community who attended the finals.
Whitsunday Volleyball is supported by coaches and mentors Mrs Suzanne Weatherhead, Mrs Val Allen, Mr Shamus Stayt and Ms Nadya Millecam.
In an online post, a representative from Whitsunday Anglican School said Mrs Weatherhead, a former National Volleyball player, brings “an extraordinary passion and love for the game” alongside strong technical and tactical knowledge.
With the Mackay Interschool Volleyball season now complete, the teams will now turn their attention to the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast in December!
