The Whitsunday Cup returns to Club Whitsundays from October 16th–18th with touch football matches spread across the weekend and $3,900 in cash prizes on offer.
Friday’s FREE Fun 4’s will open the carnival, giving kids of all ages a chance to play together, with quick 10-minute games to keep the rhythm of the day fast and up.
Senior teams take the field on Saturday, as the open Stars winners compete for a collective $2,100 prize, while the winning Super Social team will receive $900. This challenge will see the return of the Reigning champions Spartans, looking to reclaim their title.
New Zealand Touch Blacks representative Ifor Jones will also return to play and run coaching clinics for children.
Jones was named Player of the Final at the 2024 Touch World Cup in England, where New Zealand finished runners-up to Australia following a 9–6 defeat.
He helped turn that result around in the 2026 trans-Tasman final, scoring a late equaliser before crossing again to secure New Zealand’s 7–6 victory over Australia.
His clinics will give young players the chance to absorb the tips and tricks of an international representative before Sunday’s junior competition.
U12, U14 and U17 teams will contest their respective divisions, with $300 and winner medallions awarded to each winning team.
The carnival will keep things relaxed off the field, with a waterslide for kids to enjoy between games. For convenience, Sunday’s matches starting and finishing early so travelling families can get on the road sooner.
