Earlier this week, Emergency Nurses were honoured on a special day dedicated to acknowledging their service.
On Wednesday, 7 October, the attributes and dedication of these professionals were celebrated as part of Emergency Nurses Day.
Known for their quick thinking and compassion, emergency nurses deliver essential, lifesaving care to patients with acute conditions and injuries, while being prepared to deal with almost every eventuality.
This week provided an opportunity to recognise the passion, hard work and round-the-clock dedication of nurses working in the often high-stress environment of Emergency Departments (EDs) across the region.
Locally, Mackay HHS emergency nurses step into a world that most people can only imagine. They walk into the unknown, never knowing whether the next patient presenting to the ED will be a child with a high fever, a car accident victim or someone in cardiac arrest.
“They meet people on the worst days of their lives and show up with skill, compassion and calm in the chaos,” shared a spokesperson from the hospital.
“Today we honour our ED nurses’ courage, experience and heart which define their work daily. Because when every second counts, the world counts on them and THAT is worth recognising every day.”
