Whitsunday Regional Council is inviting locals to light up their neighbourhood by participating in this year’s annual Christmas Lights Competition.
A fond tradition for many, the competition encourages everyone to get into the Christmas mood and come together, whether as a competitor or spectator.
Both homes and businesses are encouraged to get involved with competition categories including best residence, best shopfront, and best street.
Competitors can pin their decorated house or workplace to the Whitsunday Regional Council Christmas Light Trail Map.
Prizes are yet to be announced, but past winners have taken home a Sealink Day Tour, a night’s stay in a glamping tent at Lake Proserpine, special custom-made street signs and Ocean Rafting trips.
Prevoius winners of the competition went all out, like Ron McCall in 2023 who spent three weeks preparing his house for the lights display.
To enter, simply head to Your Say Whitsundays and search for Christmas Lights.
