John Fielding, Manny Isgro and Russell Jackson have claimed back-to-back Champion of Champions Two-Bowl Triples titles, overcoming weather disruptions and strong opposition.
The trio, who have held their club’s triples championship since 2020, defeated South Suburban 28–19 in the final to secure another memorable victory.
Their campaign began with a convincing 31–16 win over Mackay at Seaforth. Further rain forced play to North Mackay, where they defeated the home side 27–17 to book their final appearance.
Fielding led, Jackson played second and skipper Isgro guided the team through a successful title defence that gave club members plenty to celebrate.
Tuesday’s social bowls winners were Dawn Dowell and Margo Stanley, while Sue Dakin, Carol Crosbie and Tony Whitehorn collected the lucky losers prize.
On Wednesday, Alan Pershouse skipped Mandy O’Brien and promising newcomer Ian Crawford to the afternoon’s biggest winning margin, recording a commanding 35–9 result. O’Brien was returning from a holiday in the United States.
Wednesday night’s Business House Bowls attracted more than 24 players, with results to follow next week.
Chris Opie continued his winning form in Saturday’s Scroungers, moving to a minus-10 handicap, while Rick Galea took B Grade honours.
Sunday featured close contests across three rinks. New club manager Kate Clarke’s dice roll selected the largest winning margin, rewarding skipper Andy McDougall, second Lyn Graham and lead Mark Mawson for their 26–18 victory.
The men’s novice singles competition is also progressing, with semi-final details expected next week as players continue their pursuit of the club title.
