The Bowen Visitor Information Centre is a finalist in the Queensland Tourism Awards, along with the dedicated team of Bowen Tourism and Business volunteers.

‍

Bowen Tourism and Business Manager Leanne Abernethy said being named a finalist at State level was an honour and something the entire team was very proud of.

“To be finalists in more than one category is awesome and a wonderful recognition of the hard work of our staff and volunteers,” she said.

‍

The Bowen Visitor Information Centre welcomed a record number of visitors during the past financial year, with more than 65,000 people calling into the centre beside the Big Mango.

‍

“Our visitor numbers continue to grow, and our team works hard every day to make sure everyone who walks through the doors receives a warm welcome and great local advice,” Leanne said.

‍

The Bowen Tourism and Business volunteers are once again among the finalists, building on last year’s Bronze in the state awards’ volunteer category.

“Our volunteers go above and beyond every day to ensure our visitors feel very welcome,” Leanne said.

‍

“The number of volunteers has increased in the past 12 months, and they are all incredibly dedicated to promoting Bowen and the wider Whitsundays region.

‍

“Their knowledge of the local area is amazing, and they greet every visitor with a smile.

‍

“We simply couldn’t provide the level of service we do without them.”

Three representatives from Bowen Tourism and Business will attend the Queensland Tourism Awards on November 6 on the Gold Coast.
