The atmosphere was nothing short of electric as the academic year culminated in the 2025 Holy Spirit College Academic Awards Evening on Tuesday 18 November, with a spectacular celebration of student achievements. It was a moment that highlighted not only academic excellence but also resilience, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge; qualities that resonate deeply within the Holy Spirit College community.
• 119 students with Subject Awards, recognizing prowess in specialized disciplines.
• 145 students for Academic Excellence, a testament to their consistent performance and intellectual rigor.
• 169 students for Outstanding Studentship Awards, celebrating leadership, collaboration, and commitment to professional growth.
• 46 Community Service Awards
• 43 students with Principal’s Awards
• 26 students with Christian Leadership Awards
• Additional awards from – Australian Defence Force Future Innovators Awards; Indigenous Leader Awards; The Kames Cook University Rising Star Scholarship; Vocational Educational and Training Awards
Such achievements are however more than numbers; they represent the future of the Mackay and wider community, remaining true to the Adventure in Learning that Holy Spirit College prides itself in. These milestones which underscore the importance of continuous learning and adaptability not only showcase the achievements of the students but also the dedication, hard work and care provided to them by the college staff.
This is reinforced by the Catholic co-educational excelling in its invitation and challenge to be a Catholic college which seeks to nurture all types of learners through quality education and supportive pastoral care, based on the life, values and example of Jesus.
These achievements and awards that were recognised at the Academic Awards Evening reflect the benefits the college bestows on students and staff alike by being a complete secondary educational environment, Year 7 to Year 12. This environment offers continuity, opportunities and broad curriculum offerings, thereby enabling each student to discover their own individual skills and abilities and these can be developed throughout their secondary educational years.
