The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre has been named a finalist in the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards for Business Event Venues (Combined State/Regional), reinforcing its reputation as one of Queensland’s leading destinations for conferences, conventions, and business events.
The finalist recognition is a significant achievement for the venue and reflects the commitment, professionalism, and dedication of the MECC team. Every year, the venue welcomes thousands of delegates, guests, and event organisers, delivering high-quality experiences that contribute to the success of events held in Mackay and the surrounding region.
The announcement builds on the MECC’s previous success at the Queensland Tourism Awards, where the venue received a Bronze Award in the Business Events Venue category in 2023. Since then, the team has continued to focus on enhancing event experiences, providing exceptional customer service, and showcasing the Mackay region as a destination for business and events tourism, this year taking second place in the Business Event Venue category at the Mackay Isaac Tourism Awards.

As one of the region’s premier event venues, the MECC plays an important role in attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and strengthening the visitor economy. From conferences and exhibitions to corporate functions and special events, the venue continues to deliver experiences that leave a lasting impression on attendees while highlighting the region’s unique offerings.
Being named a finalist is not only recognition of the venue’s achievements but also an acknowledgement of the broader tourism and events industry that contributes to Mackay’s growth and success. The MECC is proud to be recognised alongside many outstanding tourism operators from across Queensland and looks forward to celebrating the industry’s achievements at the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards.
