Airlie Beach welcomed a larger-than-life visitor over the Halloween weekend, with a six-metre-tall inflatable Mickey Mouse bringing a touch of Disney magic to the foreshore.
The two day stop formed part of a nine-destination Queensland tour ahead of Disney: The Exhibition – A Century of Magic, opening at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre on the 4th December.
"Disney: The Exhibition – A Century of Magic presents a tremendous opportunity to showcase not only Mackay, but Queensland's regional destinations to visitors from across Australia," Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson said.
"The exhibition is expected to attract visitors from near and far, generating valuable economic benefits for local businesses and reinforcing Mackay's growing reputation as a destination capable of hosting major cultural events.
"This tour brings a touch of Disney magic to communities along the way while highlighting the important role regional Queensland plays in delivering world-class experiences.
“We're excited to give Queenslanders a taste of what's to come and invite them to experience this extraordinary exhibition when it opens later this year.”
More than 120 treasured objects will bring over a century of Disney history to life, giving visitors a chance to explore the stories behind the magic.
Created by the Walt Disney Archives in collaboration with Semmel Exhibitions, the exhibition will take attendees through expansive galleries and large-scale displays celebrating the storytelling that has shaped generations of Disney memories.
