From working the cane fields to welcoming visitors, Oh Deere Farm Stay is putting life on the land in the spotlight, with the local business recently earning recognition across two major tourism awards.
At the Mackay Isaac Tourism Awards, Oh Deere Farm Stay won Unique Accommodation and Tour & Transport Operators, as well as the People’s Choice Award for Accommodation, with both Oh Deere businesses also named Queensland Tourism Awards finalists.
Karinda Anderson says the recognition reflects years of hard work sharing the realities and rewards of life on a working cane farm, while giving visitors a chance to get amongst life on the land.

Guests can enjoy kayaking, catch-and-release fishing and kicking back around the firepit, all surrounded by sugar cane country. Tours take visitors from plant to plate, with powered camping, and unpowered, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
“Farming isn't just about dirt, dust, snakes and cattle. Farming is where your food comes from, and without a farmer, there won't be any food on our supermarket shelves,” Karinda said.
“We walk you through the full experience, and there’s truly nothing like it.”
Karinda hopes every visitor leaves with a greater appreciation for the people, hard work and love that goes into putting food on our tables.
Beyond the visitor experience, educating the next generation is close to Karinda’s heart, and she credits the many wonderful people behind Oh Deere for its success.
The Queensland tourism awards will be held on the Gold Coast on Friday 6th November, where this year's state winners will be announced.
