Records and Rewards for Cannons

‍

A club record, a wave of personal bests and a successful Townsville campaign gave Cannonvale Cannons plenty to celebrate this week.

‍

Fifty swimmers hit the water for Club Night, where Mackenzie Bennett set a new club record for the 11-year girls’ 25m freestyle, clocking a speedy 14.33 seconds.

‍

Upgrade certificates went to Wilson Hounsell, Olive Hounsell, Finn Temple, and Ollie Johnston. Isla Johnston received the Chocolate Award for swimming closest to her best, while Alex Trefz earned the Coaches’ Award for his 100m freestyle.

‍

Miller Eaves led the personal-best charge with four PBs, including a sharp 1:08.21 in the 100m freestyle, slashing 6.39 seconds from his previous mark. Isla Johnston, Zavier Woolston, Jake Temple, and Harper Plested each collected three PBs. Zavier knocked 7.81 seconds off his 200m freestyle to finish in 2:37.83.

‍

Faithlynn Trotter sliced an impressive 16.72 seconds from her 100m individual medley, while Jess Moon improved her 25m butterfly by 12.74 seconds. Eloise and Harry Chegwidden impressed in breaststroke, and Stella Mulliss and Jax Clayworth delivered strong individual medley improvements.

‍

The club also welcomed Hallie Hinschen and Samuel Meedhan.

Over the weekend, 14 Cannons and their families travelled to Townsville for the Gardens LC Transition Meet, delivering determined swims and enthusiastic relay performances.

‍

‍

Hamilton Anflous enjoyed a standout meet with seven PBs and gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle. Finn Temple achieved PBs in every event, while Koa Harland recorded six, including a sub-seven-minute 400m individual medley.

‍

Tora Delac lowered her 200m backstroke best by 4.62 seconds to 2:29.47. Harris Delac claimed bronze in the 200m freestyle, and Celeste Orenshaw collected four PBs and three bronze medals.

Indigo Harland produced a huge 30.61-second improvement in her 100m freestyle. Blaire and Ruby Harland also swam strongly, while Eric, Leo and Stella Mulliss impressed across their events, with Stella stepping up for a relay.

‍

Jake Temple secured third in the 50m backstroke and cut 9.31 seconds from his 50m freestyle. Zara Temple’s highlight was her 55.69-second 50m backstroke.

‍

Coaches praised every swimmer’s effort, particularly the young Cannons who stepped up for relay duties. Congratulations to all swimmers and thank you to the families whose continued support keeps the Cannons firing!
