Locals looking for a fun and active way to spend their Sunday morning can lace up their walking shoes and head to Bucasia Esplanade for a community Walk & Talk this month.
Held on Sunday, October 11 as part of Queensland Mental Health Week 2026, the free event will bring Northern Beaches residents together for a relaxed morning of walking, conversation and connection.
The morning will kick off at 8am at the big shade shelter on Bucasia Esplanade, with the Walk & Talk getting underway at 8.15am.
There is no set distance or pace, making the walk suitable for kids, adults, families, friends, neighbours and everyone in between. Participants can walk for as long as they like before turning around when they are ready.
Along the way, mindfulness prompts will encourage walkers to slow down, take notice of their surroundings and enjoy a bit of time outdoors. They can also be used as conversation starters for walking buddies or simply as a chance for a quiet moment of reflection.
After the walk, participants will head to Beachfront Bar & Restaurant from 9.15am for light refreshments, with coffee available to purchase.
Prams are welcome, while dogs can also join in provided they are kept on a lead, with one dog per person.
The event is co-hosted by Mackay Northern Beaches Lions Club and Northern Beaches Community Network, with registration appreciated for catering purposes.
