There were big smiles, close finishes, and plenty of personal bests at the Cannonvale Cannons’ Club Night on Wednesday, as swimmers of all ages cheered each other on.
The youngest Cannons gave families plenty to celebrate. Stella Mulliss swam the 12m Breaststroke in 17.76 seconds, Zara Temple showed smooth technique in her 25m Breaststroke, finishing in 30.92 seconds. Archie Johnston, aged six, completed a super 12m Freestyle in 15.69 seconds. Fellow six-year-old Alfie Konopka took more than two seconds off his previous best in the 12m Butterfly.
Lennox Wild was delighted with his personal best in the 25m Breaststroke. Indigo Harland, Lily Woolston and Joshua Ketchup also set personal bests in the 50m Freestyle, while Eric Mulliss had a great night with personal bests in both the 25m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly.
Among Wednesday’s standout performers for personal bests were Zavier Woolston, Summer Papa, Cooper Konopka, Joshua Ketchup, Koa Harland, Toby Papa, and Dusty Papa. The Coaches Award went to Isla Johnston for her excellent 50m Backstroke.
The Chocolate Award recognised two remarkably close swims: Jake Temple and Zavier Woolston each finished just 0.01 seconds outside their previous best time!
Congratulations also go to Blaire Harland, Jax Eaves, Harper Plested, Joshua Ketchup, Miller Eaves, Faithlyn Trotter, and Mason Plested on their upgrades.
The Cannons wished Tora Delac and Coach Mark Erickson all the best at the Australian Short Course Championships in Sydney. Tora has qualified for two open events: the 50m Backstroke and 100m Individual Medley.
