
A new signalised pedestrian crossing has been installed on Mangrove Road to improve pedestrian connectivity and safety in the Mackay City Centre.The signalised intersection is now operational.It replaces the old zebra crossing and features traffic lights, pedestrian signal displays and line marking.

And just like that another year draws to a close. As we wrap up 2022, I’ve been very reflective. I don’t know why I do it but every year I look back on what was. It's bittersweet because I must turn another year older, but it feels good to see the back of this one. Tributes have flown following the passing of Mackay rugby league legend Mick ‘Wombat’ Aprile last month. A tough second row forward who always made 50 tackles a game, Mick played first grade for Mackay Brothers from 1963 until he retired as a player in 1971, winning premierships with the club in 1967 and 1970.
