Cannonvale Cannons Off To Nationals

The Cannons would like to commend Noah Maltby, Tora Delac and Jy Parkinson for qualifying and nominating to compete at the Australian Age Swimming Championships. Noah, Tora, Jy and Coach Mark Erickson travelled to the Gold Coast this week and will compete with the best swimmers in the country.  

The Cannons hosted a Club Night on Wednesday even though it was the school holidays, and it was exciting to see 30 swimmers participate. Congratulations to Noah Maltby and Celeste Orenshaw for winning the Chocolate Awards for the best PBs. Giselle Burton presented Upgrade Certificates to Penelope Shields and Celeste Orenshaw.  

Top performers on Wednesday night, River Shields and Alex Trefz swam extremely well achieving 3 personal best times.  Addie Sanders swam an impressive time in her 100m Backstroke, under 2 minute and achieved a massive 18.8 second PB.  Addie also swam a great time in her 100m Freestyle with a 4.82 second PB.

Stevie Lee swam a super 100m Breaststroke in 1.53.70 which was a 6.82 second PB.  Abiageal Maher swam an excellent 100m Freestyle in 1.25.27, a 4.83 second PB.  Matilda Nicholes swam a brilliant 200m Freestyle in 2.55.45 which was a 4.96 second PB.  Leo Mulliss swam a very smooth 25m Freestyle in 24.03sec and achieved a 3.43 second PB.  Don Algie’s best swims were his 200m IM in 2.54.30 and his 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1.40.84.  

The Cannons would like to commend Tiana Bell, Liam Filewood, Thomas Ganter, Millie Groom, Jasper Korosec, Eric Mulliss, Celeste Orenshaw and Penelope Shields for achieving personal best times. The next Club Night will be on 17th April, 2024.
