Seventeen newcomers picked up paddles at Club Whitsundays on Sunday, joining regular players for a pickleball open day on the venue’s new courts.

The morning gave curious locals a chance to try the sport, with clear weather and plenty of enthusiasm helping make the introduction a success.

‍

Several first-time players showed an early knack for the game, while regular members stepped into mentoring roles, sharing their skills and helping visitors find their feet.

There was plenty of laughter alongside the activity, with organisers pleased to see everyone willing to give something new a go.

‍

‍

The club thanked those who attended and the experienced players who helped guide them, hoping the open day will encourage more people to become regulars.

For anyone who missed out, the invitation to join in remains open. Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions offer another opportunity to learn the game and meet fellow players in a friendly setting.

‍

Beginners do not need to wait for another open day, with a mentor available at each session to explain the basics and help players develop their skills.

The club welcomes people of all ages and abilities, whether they are trying pickleball for the first time or returning after their first taste on Sunday.

‍

Players can sign up through the Open Sports app or simply arrive on the night, with both weekly sessions running from 6pm to 8pm.
