Whitsunday Sea Eagles had three of their five teams represent in the AFLQ Mackay 2023 Qualifying and Elimination Finals over the weekend.
Sea Eagles look to recover quickly to take on Eastern Swans next Saturday in the Preliminary Final for the decider on who comes up against North Mackay Saints in the Grand Final.
Sea Eagles Under 17s knew a close game would ensue for the Qualifying Final with Moranbah Bulldogs.
Sea Eagles won 44 – 31 and head into the Grand Final on 9th September at Bakers Creek.
Sea Eagles Under 12s battled Eastern Swans in the Qualifying Final with Swans initially adapting better to the wet conditions ending the first half with a daunting 22 – 1 lead. Sea Eagles mounted a promising comeback in the second half however could not climb to the top losing 11 – 29 leading them to the Preliminary Final against Moranbah Bulldogs on Saturday.
Congratulations to all Sea Eagles players who polled well in the AFLQ Mackay League Presentations and who were also named in Teams of the Year. Sea Eagles congratulate their Under 17s Coach Dean Armitage who was named AFLQ Mackay 2023 Junior Coach of the Year.
Saturday 2nd September sees Preliminary Finals at Rogers Oval (Eastern Swans). Sea Eagles Senior Men match up with Eastern Swans 3:20pm, Under 12s play Moranbah 8:00am. Get down to Mackay to support Sea Eagles in what should be some cracking matches!
