Tragedy At Mackay’s North Wall Beach Woman In Her 30s Found Deceased

A deceased woman was found at North Wall Beach, Mackay Harbour shortly after 8am on Tuesday 15^th September, with police seen investigating amongst the sand dunes to the far left of the recently renovated section of the beach.

It is understood a member of the public reported the discovery to police at around 8.06am, prompting an investigation at the beach.

Mackay police were seen throughout the day patrolling the area and accessing the beach via a buggy, with multiple officers present among the sand dunes.

A crime scene was later declared, with Queensland Police Service confirming the deceased was a woman in her 30s.

On Wednesday 16^th September, A QPS Media spokesperson confirmed a crime scene remained in place at the time of the update, with investigations continuing.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, including the cause, were not known at the time of print.

The beach remained open to the public, while police continued their investigation.

The discovery has prompted concern among some local residents online, with questions circulating on social media about the circumstances surrounding the death and some community members expressing concern about walking alone in the area.
