ON-LAND ECO-TOURISM BOOST

The Whitsunday region could soon have two multi-million dollar on-land eco-tourism developments underway if the new Twin Creeks Eco Park, located at the end of Rifle Range Road in Cannon Valley, is approved by Council. Korean Han-Ho H2 Consortium has partnered with the Queensland Government and Ark Energy to move forward with their proposed mega-project. The proposed mega-project will see 1.8 million tonnes of green ammonia, a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen, produced per year in the Whitsundays and exported to Korea.

Whitsunday Coast Waterways Graded

Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Coast has been graded, with the release of the 2022 Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac (MWI) waterway health Report Card last week. Assessing waterway conditions within the region, the report considers freshwater, estuary, and marine environments. Using data collected from July 2021 till June 2022, the Whitsunday Coast was graded between B (good) and D (poor) rankings.
