A little handmade gesture is helping bring comfort to Mackay families with newborn babies receiving extra care, thanks to the thoughtful efforts of Queensland Country Women's Association (QCWA) Mackay Branch members.
The branch has donated handmade Cuddle Hearts and tote bags to the Mackay Base Hospital Special Care Nursery, supporting parents and babies during what can be an emotional and challenging time.

The Cuddle Heart Project involves specially made fabric hearts designed to help parents and their newborns maintain a sense of connection while babies are receiving care in the nursery.
The hearts can carry the familiar scent of a parent or baby, offering a source of comfort and connection when they cannot always be together.
A representative from QCWA Mackay Branch said the donation was made to support the work of the Special Care Nursery team and the families they care for.
The branch also acknowledged its members who generously contribute their time, skills and care to making the handmade items for local families.
Through the donation, QCWA Mackay Branch hopes to make a small but meaningful difference for parents navigating the early days of their baby's life in the Special Care Nursery.
