Lund Industries & Liquid Fish Whitsundays: Turning Waste into Regenerative Solutions

April 16, 2026

Lund Industries is a locally based, multi-faceted business with a strong focus on sustainability, agriculture, and practical innovation. Established in 2011 by David Lund, the business has expanded over time to include several complementary operations that support both the agricultural sector and the wider community. One of its newest ventures, Liquid Fish Whitsundays, began in 2023 and focuses on processing waste from the local fishing industry. Instead of allowing this material to go unused, the business ferments it into a fish hydrolysate product that supports plant growth and acts as a natural soil conditioner. This process turns what would otherwise be waste into a valuable resource for regenerative agriculture. Alongside Liquid Fish, Lund Industries also operates as an agent for Predator Power Products, a range of petrol engines, pumps, and generators widely used in agriculture and rural industries. This agency was added in 2018, helping farmers and landholders access reliable equipment for their operations. The business also runs a grass-fed breeding and fattening beef operation near Bloomsbury, using regenerative farming practices designed to improve soil health, biodiversity, and long-term environmental outcomes. The motivation behind these ventures stems from a desire to produce chemical-free, nutritionally dense food while improving the environment at the same time. As interest in regenerative agriculture continues to grow, demand for natural soil inputs such as fish hydrolysate has increased. Many producers do not have access to the raw materials needed to produce it themselves, creating an opportunity for businesses like Liquid Fish Whitsundays to support the industry. Like many regional operators, the business faces challenges including regulatory pressures, infrastructure limitations, and operational costs. Despite this, the focus remains on steady growth and practical solutions. Key advice for other business owners includes having a clear vision, progressing through small achievable steps, prioritising customer service, and maintaining honesty and transparency in all dealings. As a new Chamber member, Lund Industries looks forward to networking opportunities and connecting with other local businesses. Airlie Beach Bowls Club Weekly News

April 9, 2026

Starting on Tuesday afternoon, play was run by Lyn Graham, where skipper David Bradley, with lead Gail Simms and second Dawn Dowell, were the winners of the day. Wednesday afternoon social bowls saw a fantastic performance from Bob Spees as skipper. He was absolutely unstoppable, with Rick Brunell, arguably the best lead in the club, and Ian Passfield, a new bowler who is going places fast as he improves each week. He will no doubt be a very valuable asset to our little club in the future. Their winning score was 25–14. Saturday morning saw the resumption of Scroungers, with all players vying for a place in the final. First-round winners were Tony Whitehorn, who won his way into the final in a tiebreaker, and Russell Jackson, who was the victor in the A Division. The B Division was won by Dennis Donadelli, beating Margo Stanley, which is a very difficult achievement. Congratulations to all. Sunday afternoon social bowls saw 18 bowlers competing for the prize, and it was wonderful to welcome back ex-President Peter Barrett, our Life Member Paul Osborne, and Mrs Alma Rose Mawson after three months in the Philippines. John rolled the dice, which came up number 3, meaning the prize was for the biggest winning margin. This was won by the team of skipper Peter Barrett, with the relentless “Wild Bill” Gordon at lead and Bowen’s finest, Don Hogarth, at second, who won 25–15. Over 110 competitors from nine Queensland clubs took to the mats across 230 Gi and no Gi divisions, with male and female categories running across all age groups and belt-rankings – from five-year-olds finding their feet to 45-year-olds who clearly have no intention of slowing down. Bouts were run as one-on-one, three and five minute rounds, with some high level QLD black belts showcasing their skills and stamina with 10 minute superfights. Escape Jiu Jitsu Head Coach Danny Johns said the first competition was a resounding success. Beatlemania Comes To Proserpine For One-Night-Only Celebration

April 9, 2026

Get ready to “Twist & Shout” as Beatlemania On Tour brings its internationally acclaimed production to the Proserpine Entertainment Centre on Sunday 26th April 2026 at 7.30pm, for one night only. Since its launch in 2009, the Australian-based show has built a formidable global reputation, selling out performances across North America, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand. After a decade away from Australia’s east coast, the production is now returning with a high-energy tribute to the music that defined a generation. Audiences can expect a two-hour audio-visual spectacular featuring more than 40 of the greatest hits by The Beatles, performed live in their original keys with meticulous attention to detail. Replica costumes, period instruments and theatrical lighting combine to recreate the look and sound of the 1960s, capturing the spirit of the world’s most influential band. The setlist reads like a greatest-hits time capsule, including classics such as Hey Jude, All You Need Is Love, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, Twist & Shout, Yesterday, Come Together, Get Back, Help!, Eleanor Rigby and Here Comes the Sun, among many others. Behind the production is a cast of seasoned musicians, including Zachary Coombs, who performs the role of John Lennon. Coombs’ connection to the music runs deeper than most. Named after Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr, he grew up in a musical household influenced by jazz, rock and 90s pop. He first picked up the guitar as a teenager before discovering The Beatles at 15 after receiving their 1 compilation album. “I fell in love with every single song,” Coombs recalled, describing the moment as a turning point that led him to explore the band’s entire catalogue. After years touring internationally as a solo cruise ship performer, Coombs joined Beatlemania in 2014, later stepping into the role of John Lennon. He has also performed as Paul McCartney and George Harrison in earlier productions, drawing on what he describes as “the magic within the music itself.” He says the key to portraying Lennon lies in understanding the balance of musicianship and attitude. “If the musicians are having fun on stage, it becomes infectious,” Coombes said. The show also features fellow performers portraying Ringo Starr and the rest of the iconic line-up, with attention to every musical and visual detail. For Coombs and the cast, the appeal of Beatles music lies in its universality, with songs built on themes of love, peace and connection that continue to resonate across generations. “This is more than a concert,” organisers say. “It’s a celebration of music history.” Tickets are available now.
