Disaster Ready Saturday Returns

October 1, 2026

Mackay residents will have the chance to get disaster-ready ahead of the upcoming wet season, with Disaster Ready Saturday returning to the region on 17th October. The free event will be held at Caneland Central, near Peter Alexander, from 9am to 1pm, bringing emergency services, disaster management specialists and utility providers together in one location. Residents can speak directly with experts, collect a free disaster preparedness information kit and complete a short preparedness survey for the chance to win a Honda generator valued at more than $2300, thanks to Mackay Outdoor Power Centre. The survey will be open from 3rd October to 17th October. The Mackay event will feature representatives from Mackay Regional Council’s Emergency Management and Flood Modelling teams, State Emergency Service, Queensland Fire Department, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Police Service, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Mackay Hospital and Health Service, Australian Red Cross, Sunwater, Ergon Energy, NBN Co and Maritime Safety Queensland. Council’s Flood Modelling Team will also bring along an interactive wave tank demonstrating the potential impacts of storm surge and coastal flooding. With cyclone, flood and bushfire risks increasing as Queensland heads into disaster season, the event is an opportunity for residents to check they know what hazards could affect their property and where to find reliable information during an emergency. Residents are encouraged to use the event to review their emergency plans, prepare or update an emergency kit and consider how they would stay connected and informed if power, phone or internet services were disrupted. More information and the disaster preparedness survey are available at Connecting Mackay’s Disaster Ready Saturday page. Mackay Rally Gives Families A Chance To Be Heard

October 1, 2026

Mackay families, carers, supporters and local professionals gathered at Bluewater Quay last Saturday 26th September for the ‘Walk Beside Us’ rally, calling for the voices of people with disability and their families to be heard. The rally was organised by local mothers Haylee and Lisa, who had previously shared their experiences caring for children with complex disabilities and their concerns about how changes to the NDIS could affect families requiring significant and ongoing support. Following the event, Haylee thanked those who attended and helped bring the rally together. “Thank you to every single person who took two hours out of their Saturday to stand beside us, speak their truth and help make sure the voices of our families were heard,” she said. Haylee said she was honoured to see two local Behaviour Therapists and allied health professionals attend in support of families, while also acknowledging those working with NDIS participants and their families across the region. A number of people also took the opportunity to speak during the rally, including Sophie, one of the participants, who Haylee thanked for having the courage to share her experience. “A massive thank you to Anarchy Services Mackay for standing up and speaking on behalf of our families,” Haylee said. She also recognised Lisa for her role in organising the majority of the event and working behind the scenes to bring everything together, along with Hannah, David, Sydney and family members who helped with the setup and artwork. Haylee said the support of her partner, Quentin, was also particularly meaningful after he surprised her by bringing their son to the rally for its final hour. While the rally drew a smaller crowd than some may have expected, Haylee said the number of people present did not take away from the purpose of the gathering. “We weren’t there to count heads. “We were there to make sure voices were heard. “And they were.” Haylee said the day reinforced that the value of the rally was not measured by the number of people who attended. “Numbers don’t matter. Voices matter. “Followers don’t matter. Honesty matters. “Numbers don’t matter. Friendship matters. “Popularity doesn’t matter. The people who genuinely stand behind you do.” She said the rally was about creating a space where people could speak for themselves, rather than having others speak on their behalf. “This was never about speaking for people. “It was about creating a space where people could speak for themselves.” Haylee described the event as an “incredible day” and thanked everyone who attended, listened, spoke, helped organise, set up, created artwork, shared the message or simply stood beside them. 1: Local mothers Haylee and Lisa brought Mackay families, carers and supporters together at Bluewater Quay for the ‘Walk Beside Us’ rally last Saturday. IS YOUR PROPERTY SECURE? Locals Talk Home Safety Ahead Of National Secure Your Home Day

October 1, 2026

Mackay residents came together last Wednesday 23rd September for a Secure Your Home Day event, enjoying free pizza while chatting about practical ways to improve safety in their neighbourhoods and reduce opportunities for crime. Hosted by Member for Mackay Nigel Dalton in partnership with Northern Beaches Neighbourhood Watch, the event brought locals together with police to talk about home security, crime prevention and the simple ways neighbours can look out for one another. Secure Your Home Day is held on the 26th and 27th of September and is a national initiative led by Neighbourhood Watch Australia encouraging Australians to assess their home security and encourage the implementation of simple crime prevention measures. Mr Dalton said the event was about giving residents practical tools to protect their homes and prevent crime before it occurs, and enthused locals to relay the information with their neighbours. “This has been organised to make sure that everybody has access and opportunities to what we call target: harden your house,” Mr Dalton said. “The best way of doing that is to prevent the crime before it actually happens.” Officer-in-Charge of Mackay Northern Beaches Police Station Senior Sergeant Mitch Benson said police continued to focus on proactive measures across the Northern Beaches, with local Neighbourhood Watch also playing an important role in connecting the community. “We’ve done a lot of work in that proactive space of trying to stop crime before it happens,” he said. “That’s probably the first step in preventing people becoming victims in the first place.” Sergeant Highway Patrol James Dolby also spoke about ongoing police efforts across the district, including crime prevention and road safety matters. He said police would continue to focus on issues including off-road vehicles and dangerous riding, with officers maintaining a visible presence across the community. “We’re working very hard trying to keep the numbers down,” Sergeant Dolby said. “We’re having some really good wins and some positive hits at that.” “Rest assured, we’re out there every day, every afternoon, every night.” Locals were encouraged to take what they had learned back into their own streets, with simple conversations between neighbours forming part of the broader approach to community safety. According to the Home Security Guide, these four key principles are important for good home security: Make it easy for an offender to be seen Make it difficult for an offender to gain entry Make it difficult for an offender to leave with property Make it difficult for an offender to benefit from property For more information, visit the Queensland Police Service Home Security Guide at police.qld.gov.au. Young Artists Invited To Showcase Artwork On Parliament House

September 30, 2026

Students with a creative flair are being encouraged to step forward and submit their artwork for the chance to see it projected onto the façade of Australian Parliament House. The opportunity is open to creative students in Years 5 and 6 across Dawson, with selected artworks set to feature as part of Canberra’s Enlighten Festival 2027, which will run from February 26th to March 8th and celebrate light, art and creativity. As part of celebrations marking 100 years of Parliament in Canberra, artworks from every Australian state and territory will be projected onto the Australian Parliament House façade. Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox MP said the opportunity would allow young artists to showcase what makes the Dawson region special. “Our part of Queensland is pretty hard to beat when it comes to inspiration,” Mr Willcox said. “We have the Great Barrier Reef, cane fields, beaches, rainforest, rivers, farmers, fishing, wildlife and some of the most unique communities in the country. “There is plenty there to put on the big screen, and in this case, the screen is Parliament House itself.” From the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and cane fields to local wildlife and communities, students are being encouraged to draw inspiration from the places, people, animals, plants and landscapes that make their part of Australia unique. Mr Willcox said he would love to see Dawson represented among the artworks selected for the national display. “I would love to see a slice of Dawson among them,” Mr Willcox added. “Imagine walking around Canberra at night and seeing Parliament House illuminated with artwork created by a student from Dawson. “That would be something to be proud of.” The program also provides students with an opportunity to engage with civics and learn more about the home of Australia’s democracy. Mr Willcox is encouraging schools, teachers and parents across Dawson to support creative Year 5 and 6 students to take part. Submissions close Thursday, October 29th. A student toolkit containing tips and templates, along with a fact sheet for parents, is available through the Parliament House website at aph.gov.au/StudentArtwork. World-Class Sport Precinct Backed For Mackay

September 30, 2026

Mackay’s Harrup Park redevelopment could take another step towards becoming a major multi-sport hub, with the state government committing $23.5 million towards the project’s second stage and calling on the Federal Government to match its investment. The proposed redevelopment would deliver a new indoor sporting venue featuring courts for netball, basketball, volleyball and badminton, alongside indoor cricket nets and AFL training facilities. The project would also include Sporting Wheelies and Paralympian training facilities, all-abilities facilities, a gym, dormitory accommodation, community sports meeting rooms and administration offices for AFL, cricket and other community sports. Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the facility would provide important infrastructure for the region. “Mackay is a great sporting community, and it deserves to have great community sports facilities which is why we committed to help deliver Stage 2 of the Harrup Park redevelopment before the last State Election,” Minister Mander said. “We are delivering $23.5 million through the incredibly successful Games On! program to make this happen for the people of Mackay and the region and are calling on the Federal Government to match the funding.” The proposed development would build on Harrup Park’s existing Great Barrier Reef Arena, with the State Government describing the combined facilities as a major sporting and community hub. Member for Mackay Nigel Dalton said the next stage could provide opportunities for both community participants and elite athletes. “We already have the stadium for our community members to watch the best, and with this next stage of the Harrup Park community, they can aspire to be the best,” Mr Dalton said. “We know the importance of sport to the people of Mackay, and this facility will not only encourage more community members to be active, but it will also provide better elite-level infrastructure to guide our future champions and I hope the Federal Government will support our community." Harrup Park General Manager Adrian Young said Stage 2 was intended to support athletes throughout their sporting journeys, from grassroots participation through to high-performance competition. “This is infrastructure that will benefit our young athletes and sporting clubs for generations, while also giving Mackay the facilities to attract major training camps, tournaments and opportunities associated with Brisbane 2032 and beyond,” Mr Young said. “The State Government’s $23.5 million commitment has given us a strong foundation, and securing the remaining investment will allow us to deliver the full vision for our region.” The project remains dependent on securing the additional funding, after Harrup Park was unsuccessful in its application to the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program. “While we were disappointed to be unsuccessful through the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program, we remain hopeful that we can work constructively with the Federal Government to secure funding for this vital regional project.”

“Behind Every Badge Is A Person” Mackay Unites For National Police Remembrance Day

September 30, 2026

Mackay’s CBD and St Patrick’s Church on River Street were filled with officers in blue last Tuesday 29th September, as Queensland Police Service officers gathered alongside local representatives and members of the public to honour the lives of those who never came home from their shift. A march through the Mackay CBD was followed by a memorial service at St Patrick’s Church for National Police Remembrance Day. Officers and staff from across Mackay joined members of the community to honour those who lost their lives in the line of duty and reflect on their courage, dedication and sacrifice. Mayor Greg Williamson spoke about the community’s appreciation for police and the important role officers play across the region. He highlighted how police are often the first people the community turns to when there is a safety concern, while also recognising officers as members of local families and communities. “The people of Mackay call them when there's community safety at risk. And so, today, there's a chance for us, as a community, to join with the police force and say, We, as a community, really appreciate what you do.” “To the people who put their hand up to be in the police force, thank you. Thank you for what you are doing for us as a community, and for Queensland in general.” “Quite often, we take the police for granted, but that's who we call first, when there's a community risk apparent.” Mackay Whitsunday District Officer Superintendent Dean Cavanagh spoke about the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and the lasting impact their deaths have had on families, friends, colleagues and the wider community. He also reflected on the strong attendance at the memorial and the respect shown towards those being remembered. “Today we come together as one voice to remember those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.” “We gather not only to remember their courage, but also to acknowledge the profound impact their loss has had on families, friends, colleagues, and this community.” “It’s a privilege to see such a strong attendance here today, and it always demonstrates the enduring respect held for those that we remember.” “Please remember that today’s an opportunity to recognise the values of service, sacrifice and a reminder that behind every badge is a person.” “With honour they served.” On Tuesday 29th September, Mackay police officers, local representatives and community members gathered for National Police Remembrance Day. Meet The Chef Nabin from Hog’s Breath Café

September 30, 2026

Hog’s Breath Café has been a staple of the Airlie Beach dining scene for 37 years. As the business continues to grow and evolve, so does the team, with new chefs bringing culinary skills from across the world to the iconic Airlie Kitchen. One such chef is Nabin. Nabin has been cooking in Hog’s Breath’s flagship restaurant since January 2023, arriving in Australia from his home country, Nepal. Back home in Nepal, Nabin honed his skills across various cuisines. He began his career in a continental kitchen, cooking western and Mexican food alongside Nepalese dishes. His favourite taste of Nepalese cooking would be the momos- traditional steamed or fried dumplings filled with minced meat or vegetables. Now, three years has passed since Nabin’s move down under and he has integrated himself into life here in Airlie Beach. Just last week, Nabin’s wife joined him here, meaning now, it truly feels like home. Nabin’s wife cooks too, but- at least according to Nabin - he’s the best chef in the household. Nabin’s favourite part of working at Hogs Breath is the team, who have a lot of fun working together and truly believe in the food they present. When it comes to the Hog’s Breath menu, Nabin’s recommendations are hearty classics cooked with finesse – starting with the prime rib. The prime rib is cooked for 18-hours in Hog’s Breath’s unique slow-cooking ovens because – as the team believes - greatness takes time. The meat is selected for its superior quality by trusted supplier Teys, which has been in partnership with Hog’s Breath since the first restaurant’s 1989 conception. Once the Prime rib is ordered, it’s hand cut, seasoned and flame grilled to seal in maximum flavour. Then, it’s cooked to taste- though it’s recommended as best served medium-rare. The prime rib is served with a choice of two sides, like the café’s iconic curly fries or creamy mac and cheese. Nabin’s second recommendation is the Chicken Parmigiana - Crumbed chicken breast topped with Italian-style tomato sauce & a duo of melted cheeses. A classic done well! As for the best time to visit, Nabin highlighted the live music that accompanies meals on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as the Salsa dancing that takes over the restaurant floor on Thursday evenings.

DELLACOMA TO HIT AIRLIE WITH WEEKEND OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL

September 30, 2026

Airlie Beach Hotel is turning up the volume on the weekend of October 9th with three days of live rock, banging anthems and original music from one of Australia’s seasoned rock performers, Dellacoma Rio. Best known locally as the frontman of The Australian INXS Show, Dellacoma Rio has spent more than 15 years making music professionally, performing around the world and releasing three albums of his own. His career has taken him from touring America with Sydney band Sunset Riot to performing for crowds of up to 250,000 people at Poland Rock Fest, as well as sharing a festival main stage with Def Leppard. Next, he’s coming to the Whitsundays- and he’s bringing his band. Kicking off with the main event, on Friday 9th October DELLACOMA will be headlining an end of footy season party special evening event in the sports bar with original music from all three of their studio albums alongside some of the songs and artists that have influenced them throughout their career. Expect brash, explosive and hard-hitting rock n roll, with dynamite stage presence. The five-piece band will deliver everything from softer songs to high-energy rockers, with influences ranging from Van Halen and Noiseworks to Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi and The Killers. DELLACOMA’s style is built on classic rock ‘n roll storytelling and emotion. “You kind of go through different parts of your life and you connect with different songs,” Dellacoma reflected. “And I think it's about honesty as well. When [a singer] really means the words that they're singing. “That goes the same for the instrumental side of things as well. A really good guitarist can make their guitar sing or cry or show the emotion of anger or gratitude. If you're really in tune with your instrument, whatever that is, you can evoke emotions with that.” Keeping the party going, on Saturday afternoon Rio will step into the shoes of another rock icon for Dellacoma Rio Presents Bon Jovi, celebrating 40 years of Slippery When Wet. The show will feature every song from the iconic album, including Livin’ On A Prayer and Wanted Dead Or Alive, alongside other Bon Jovi favourites such as Always and It’s My Life. Sunday will then bring Dellacoma Rio Presents Rock Anthems, a broad celebration of the songs that have filled pubs, festivals and stadiums for generations. Expect everything from Australian favourites by AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel and The Angels to international anthems from Queen, Def Leppard, Journey and more. What, When, Where? DELLACOMA – Original Rock: Friday October 9th, 8pm–11pm, special evening event in the sports bar. Dellacoma Rio Presents Bon Jovi: Saturday October 10th, 2pm–5.30pm. Dellacoma Rio Presents Rock Anthems: Sunday October 11th, 2pm–5.30pm. All shows are free to attend at the Airlie Beach Hotel.

Family Fun Day To Celebrate Whitsundays Wildlife

September 30, 2026

Families are being invited to get up close with the region’s native wildlife while supporting the volunteers who work to protect it at the Fauna Rescue Whitsundays Family Fun Day. The free community event will be held at Coral Sea Marina on Shingley Beach Road, Airlie Beach, from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday 3rd October. The afternoon will feature something for all ages, with market stalls, street food, live entertainment and kids’ activities planned throughout the day. Young visitors can get involved with kids’ craft stations, face painting, competitions and a scavenger hunt, offering plenty to keep little wildlife lovers entertained while families explore the event. The event is being hosted by Fauna Rescue Whitsundays, a local volunteer organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. Founded in 2001, the organisation works alongside vets, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, Council and other wildlife and environmental groups, while also providing education to local schools and community organisations. Behind the scenes, much of that work relies on volunteers. Fauna Rescue operates a 24-hour wildlife emergency hotline, connecting members of the public with trained volunteers who can provide advice, coordinate rescues and arrange transport for animals requiring care. The organisation's most recent annual reporting highlights just how busy that service can be, with the hotline receiving between 80 and 150 calls each month, or up to around 1,500 calls a year. In the 2023–24 reporting period, the organisation recorded 1,172 hotline calls, with 621 from the Whitsundays, 403 from Mackay, 25 from Isaac and two from outside its service area. Birds accounted for 827 of those calls. That community reliance on the rescue network is one reason events such as the Family Fun Day are important, providing an opportunity for locals to learn more about native wildlife while supporting the volunteers behind the rescues. Fauna Rescue also encourages community members to become involved, with opportunities ranging from rescue and animal care to hotline operation and other volunteer roles. Training and support are provided for volunteers. For families heading along on 3rd October, however, the focus will be on enjoying an afternoon together, with plenty of entertainment, food and activities celebrating the wildlife that makes the Whitsundays home. If you spot an animal who needs help, contact the Fauna Rescue hotline via 4947 3389. Cowboy Charity Ball Lassos A $44,000 Result

September 30, 2026

A night of fun and generosity has delivered an impactful result for the Whitsundays, with the 2026 Mayor’s Charity Ball raising an impressive $44,000 for BMA CQ Rescue. Mayor Ry Collins officially handed over the cheque this week, a culmination of support from the local sponsors, businesses, donors and community members who rallied behind the annual event. “When something goes seriously wrong, having your service available to our community makes an enormous difference to people when they are at their most vulnerable,” Mayor Collins said. “It was a great night for the community, but this is ultimately about supporting a service that is there for us when we need it most. The Whispers of the West themed evening raised an outstanding $44,000, bringing the council’s total amount raised for BMA CQ Rescue since 2016 to $350,000. For the 24/7 community funded aeromedical and rescue services based in Mackay, this money goes a long way to keep the blades chopping. “We're really grateful for the money that they've raised, it's amazing support in a lovely area and from lovely people,” said BMA CQ Rescue General Manager Lisa Krowley. “Our operational cost per year is $17.5 million and covers a lot of ground, so the support from the communities and the regions is second to none.” Mayor Collins took the opportunity to thank the sponsors of the event for helping make the evening, and donation, possible. “A huge thank you to our sponsors, to everyone who donated and bought a ticket, and to everyone who helped make the ball happen,” Mayor Collins said. “We had another fantastic ball this year. The support from our local sponsors, businesses and everyone who came along was tremendously important.” Council is already looking ahead to the 2027 Mayor’s Charity Ball, with sponsorship opportunities now open for businesses interested in helping make next year’s event another memorable night for the community. One Little Island, Two MICHELIN Keys Hamilton Island Celebrates Double MICHELIN Win

September 30, 2026

H Hamilton Island is celebrating two MICHELIN Key hotels, with qualia receiving the prized global accolade for a second consecutive year and The Sundays receiving its first following its opening in 2025. Hamilton Island now has two MICHELIN Key hotels: the internationally acclaimed, adults-only qualia and The Sundays, the island’s newest boutique hotel, created with families in mind. The MICHELIN Key is the hotel distinction of the MICHELIN Guide, recognising outstanding hotels around the world. Hotels are independently assessed across criteria including design, service, character, value and their connection to place. The 2026 Global Selection added 470 new hotels across 79 destinations worldwide, with 92 Key hotels recognised across Oceania, spanning Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia. Two of those are on Hamilton Island. For qualia, the MICHELIN recognition follows a year that also saw the adults-only luxury retreat receive Condé Nast Traveler’s inaugural Triple Crown, recognising hotels that have appeared across its Hot List, Gold List and Readers’ Choice Awards since their inception. Since opening in 2007, qualia has continued to evolve through considered refinement. Recent additions include Executive Chef Joshua Hingston’s Pebble Beach Collection and a collaboration with Fluidform founder Kirsten King, alongside unique access to Whitehaven Beach, Heart Island and the waters surrounding Heart Reef. “Retaining our MICHELIN Key for a second year means a great deal to the team,” said General Manager of qualia Rebecca Hamey. “What has always defined qualia is exceptional privacy, intuitive personalised service and a deep connection to the beauty of the Whitsundays. Our guests come here for a complete escape; whether that’s through our dining and wellness experiences, a private day exploring the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, or simply enjoying the stillness of qualia itself. We’re incredibly proud to have that recognised again by MICHELIN.” The Sundays’ first MICHELIN Key marks another milestone for the 59-room boutique hotel since opening on Catseye Beach in 2025. It follows its inclusion in Travel + Leisure’s It List 2026 and recognition as Gourmet Traveller’s Resort of the Year 2026, while Catseye Pool Club, its restaurant by Josh and Julie Niland, received its first Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat in 2026. “Receiving our first MICHELIN Key so soon after opening is a very proud moment for our team,” said Raza Syed, General Manager, The Sundays. “The Sundays was created as a place for families to relax, reconnect and enjoy time together. From days by the waters-edge pool and beach to long, shared meals at Catseye Pool Club, there’s an easy rhythm to a stay here that is all about being together. To have that recognised by MICHELIN, alongside qualia here on Hamilton Island, makes us incredibly proud.” The recognition comes amid a wider evolution of Hamilton Island’s accommodation, dining and experiences, and a year of accolades for Australia’s Tropical Island.

MUSICAL CHAIRS: Nick Di Gregorio

September 30, 2026

BY GEORGIA MCDONALD This week, we sat down with local musician Nick Di Gregorio and talked about his musical journey, the Whitsundays’ music scene and his latest creative project he has been building in the local area. With a combination of live music, filming and the art of a good old chat, Nick created local podcast The Tiny Vinyl Sessions. Much like this column, Nick brings local musicians to the podcast seat and gives them a chance to share their passion, with each session featuring three live-recorded songs which are then professionally produced by Nick, as well as a chat about their story and all things music. Nick wears plenty of hats behind the scenes, editing the videos and putting together the content for social media, as well as producing the tracks. Each episode takes him around 46 hours to complete. The podcast came from Nick’s personal experience in the local music scene, where he felt there was more room for original music and collaboration between musicians. Whilst the project is based in the Whitsundays, Nick has plans to take it further, hoping to reach places such as Melbourne and Cairns. So, who is the musician behind the mic? Picking up a guitar at age 10, Nick quickly found himself drawn to the technical side of music. He describes himself as “a bit of a nerd”, starting out in classical guitar and jazz. Before his mother agreed to sign him up for lessons, she told him he had to work through a method book, so he did, teaching himself to read music. At 15, Nick was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne where he studied guitar and jazz, before heading over to Perth to study jazz performance at WAAPA. After his studies, Nick went overseas, working as a session guitarist on cruise ships. It was here, during a very fun and creative period of his life, that he decided it was time to learn a new skill - singing. “I’d always been meaning to sing, so I just started practising,” Nick said. Once he had completed a few contracts as a singer and built his confidence, he headed to London as a soloist and began performing full-time. Eventually, Nick found his way back to Australia. He was in the Whitsundays when COVID hit, and six years later, he is still here. As restrictions began to ease and venues started opening back up, Nick began putting himself forward and building his position in the Whitsundays local music scene. “I just said, ‘Can I come play?’” Nick said. Things grew quickly from there, with Nick becoming a resident musician on Hamilton Island, playing between five to ten gigs a week. Nick says that one of the best parts of being a musician in the Whitsundays is the community that comes with it. “It’s such a small community that you’re all connected,” Nick said. With a consistent and steady demand for live music across the region, Nick said that there is a real sense of support between the musicians, with everyone bringing their own style and approach to the gigs. “I think everyone just has a unique way of approaching the same kind of gig, which is kind of what makes everyone different,” he said. For Nick, the Tiny Vinyl sessions are another way of giving musicians a space to collaborate and showcase their uniqueness, while continuing to grow the Whitsunday music community that he has become such a large part of.
