Regional employers, education and training providers, industry groups, and government representatives will come together in November to explore practical ways to strengthen workforce availability, skills and career pathways across the Whitsundays.
Hosted by the Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry and TAFE Queensland, the Whitsundays Workforce Exchange will be held from 9am to 11am on Thursday 12 November 2026, at TAFE Queensland’s Whitsunday campus.
The event will bring organisations together to share workforce intelligence, showcase existing programs and resources, identify skills gaps, and explore opportunities to better connect local people with employment and training.
The Exchange will also explore opportunities for stronger collaboration, including interest in establishing a Regional Recruitment, Training and Skills Working Group to shape ongoing advocacy, projects, and the future Jobs Fair and Careers Expo.
Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Officer, Dr Julia Evans, said collaboration was essential to building a workforce that meets the needs of local businesses and supports the region’s future.
“We need to connect the dots between what businesses need, the skills available, and the resources already in our region,” Julia said.
“The aim is to move beyond identifying challenges and start strengthening connections and put shared priorities into action.”
Employers, schools, training and employment providers, government agencies, chambers, industry organisations, and others involved in workforce development are encouraged to attend.
The event will conclude with networking and an opportunity to identify next steps.
