Set for the last weekend of July, the Airlie Beach Triathlon Festival has already exceeded predicted registrations, with a record number of athletes taking on the course. Taking place over both days of the weekend, the triathlon festival will begin with the junior triathlon, before moving to the Enticer, Sprint, and Olympic distances, with a Corporate Teams Event on Sunday.

Council is investing $128 million into its capital assets as part of the 2023-2024 capital budget, with a strong focus on roads, drainage and improving drinking water quality in regional areas. That figure will include $58 million on renewing existing assets, $20 million on upgrades and $50 million on new assets. Mayor Greg Williamson said council managed a diverse range of infrastructure assets valued at $3.7 billion and was responsible for the construction, upgrade and renewal of these assets.
