With a background in chartered accounting and large-scale property development, Ian McDonald has brought extensive industry experience to Blacks Real Estate’s commercial division.
Before joining the Mackay agency, Ian worked with developers across South-East Queensland, overseeing financing and development delivery for projects spanning Canberra, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Magnetic Island. His experience also included managing financial functions for residential developments, shopping centres, leasing and property management operations across Queensland.
Ian later returned to Mackay to take on the role of Chief Financial Officer for one of the region’s largest civil contracting and property development businesses before transitioning into commercial real estate.
Now serving as Director and Commercial Agent at Blacks Real Estate after becoming a director in 2024, Ian works alongside the agency’s commercial team to sell and lease retail, industrial and commercial properties throughout the Mackay region.
Known for combining strong financial knowledge with practical industry experience, Ian’s background provides clients with insight into both the commercial property market and broader development landscape.
